Abstract
In the year 2000, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) officially initialed the funding programme "Social-ecological research", which is planned for a duration of 10 years. This article provides an overview of the funding programme's history of origins, of the focus of it contents, and of its conception and general framework.
