Summary UNESCO considers education a central part of culture. The reduction of education to a role subservient to economic development has to be aboided. Instead, a humanitarian orientation is required, in not only about the learning of skills, it is also about the acquistion of the values of respect for life and human dignity, to ensure inclusive and eequitable quality education and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for als human beings, as part of edication for sustainable development.
