What are our responsibilities as teachers? How do we challenge the business ethic of educational institutions to move towards a sustainability ethic? The democratic and participative approaches considered in the previous chapters will help teachers to move on from traditional transmissive approaches to encourage innovative and creative questioning and problem-solving approaches in their students. These will help readers to focus on their contribution to our future well-being and that of the planet on which we live. The chapter asks the reader to reflect on their initial responses (in Chap. 1) and to consider if changes in their approach to Education for Sustainable Development have been effected. It will draw together the reflective sections from previous chapters thereby facilitating a genuine review of practice.
