This chapter will review some of the motivations and approaches to teaching and learning in adult education and will explore how such approaches are appropriate in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). From here, it will present a review of the ′skills agenda′ in further education in the context of sustainability. It is hoped that it will provide a detailed case example of a community programme allied to aspects of ESD and to explore the obstacles to implementation and relative successes and failures of the scheme, thereby providing insights to those wishing to set up similar provision.
