This chapter considers how an intergenerational learning perspective might inform methodological approaches for environmental education and education for sustainable development in teaching and research for the future. This chapter extends research on intergenerational learning following publication of the book Intergenerational Learning and Transformative Leadership for Sustainable Futures and surveys literature on intergenerational learning and proposes methodological approaches for intergenerational learning, intergenerational research, and intergenerational practice, especially in teaching and research higher education for sustainability. Perspectives that connect intergenerational learning to the project of imagining the future include those of intergenerational justice and intergenerational ethics.
