Kurzinfo:
"This dissertation centred upon the level of environmental education in the animal science curricula of the Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland, Adelaide and Charles Sturt Universities. It was discovered that all of the animal science degrees required significantly more environmental education specific to livestock management. Four out of five degrees lacked information on the ethical ramifications of management decisions. Graduates from four of the degrees were ill equipped to mange or assist managers in developing an awareness of the larger environment in which intensive livestock enterprises operate. These results show that Animal science curricula must move in line with the shift in values concerning environmental stewardship that has occurred in the last two decades. The intensive livestock industry and graduates must understand that their actions can and will affect the farm business, environment and the community."--ABSTRACT.
