Abstract: The aim of this study is to achieve an understanding and explanation of the effect of UNDPs energy efficiency educational program on the forming of environmental behavior among children in Russia, and to find out the potentials embedded in environmental education. The two interrelated research questions are as follows: 1. To what extent is the UNDP energy efficiency educational program maintained in Russian schools one and a half year after the projects completion? 2. What are the possibilities for and barriers to forming pro-environmental behaviour among children through ecological education in Russia? What analytical approaches are suitable to understand the process of ecological education and the forming of pro-environmental behaviour?
