Abstract: The key to successful Environmental Education is the classroom teacher. The effectiveness of Environmental Education relies heavily on the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the educator.It is essential, the teacher should himself be fully aware of Environmental problems and day to day activities related to the environment.Education and awareness among the teachers are the most effective forces that can save our besieged environment. Since, Environment protection and conservation is very important for the promotion of sustainable development, the role of the teacher in facilitating the environmental awareness among the students, research and pre-service and in-service training of the teachers assumes considerable significance which has its relevance in this context today.Today, there is an urgent need of generating awareness about environment and the related issues and problems of the environment among all the sections of the society.The present book is an humble attempt to measure the awareness of environment among school teachers and especially among secondary school teachers.
