Abstract: The physical environment has been evaluated by many different groups. Students are being introduced to the physical environment and are developing values which may be different nation to nation. This experimental study hypothesized that American student attitudes toward the physical environment would be significantly more positive, that is, pro-environment, than non-American students'. To test this hypothesis, three American high school classes in geography-environment were compared with 10 foreign schools. The results revealed that American students varied considerably among the three schools but overall rated the environment more positively than did foreign students.
