Abstract: The term globalization refers to the increasing economic and cultural connections of nations. This process which start is hard to specifically date back has significantly accelerated over the past 20 years due to the dissolution of the east-west-conflict. Simultaneously it led to on the one hand to an increase of economical cooperation but on the other hand to an increase of competition. The corporate world has significantly changed hence to this development. Besides from an international division of labour within which individual nations have specialized in various fields of production and service sectors, national economies and corporations increasingly had to deal with international competition. At the same time they had to react with more flexibility and efficiency to the new competitive situation. These processes resulted in structural changes, new problems as well as in a changed qualification demand in the corporate and vocational education. Based on these globalization induced changes the following paper deals with the influence on the vocational education processes as well as on the structure of the German vocational education system.
