Abstract
Gaining access to teacher education and schools has proved to be hardfor the complex browledge of sustainability education. The results from eight projects dealing with this issue have been recorded in case studies. These case studies were subject to a qualitative antent analysis. This analysis developed criteria to identify the organisation, the interaction and the methodological treatment of various topics of sustainability research.
As suggested by the results of this study, the concepts for the design of the cooperation of research and education comprised the classical "expert lecture", worleshops, and colIaborative research focussing on regional questions. The concrete areas of research were based on the issues of sustainable development, on problems of the cooperation, and onthe sustainable development of institutions. The analysis following the methodological framework of educational reconstruction researched the structural development of learning processes, thus uncovering a similarly wide spectrum with three obvious components: focus on traditional subject matter, orientation on expectations of learners as well as the acquisition of knowledge during the process.
