AbstractThis essay emphasizes the role of school grounds As "learnscapes" for sustainable development in the light of learning as a social process. The case study describes the Korean Programme "Forest for Life", which encourages schools to open up for a society closed in itself for ages due to its cultural identification. The redesigning of the school grounds in the University of Applied Educational sciences at Cheongju is focused as an extraordinary woy to confront the Korean educational system with its inner contradictions.
