This publication gives a summarizing overview on the Seminar devoted to Curriculum development and education for living together. ... It is in three parts. Part I 'Curriculum development for living together - Le développement des curricula pour vivre ensemble en Afrique' discusses 1) curriculum and languages, 2) curriculum and cultural diversity, 3) education for living together, 4) curriculum, science teaching and interdisciplinarity and 5) education in emergency situations. Part II contains selected issues in a regional perspective: 1) Education and violence: education in emergency situations - the issue of social cohesion, 2) Curriculum and languages: teaching in African languages and learning strategies, 3) Post-conflict situations: some useful perspectives from Africa. In part III national reports deal with three main issues: 1) problems of the national eduation system affecting the school system in general and those related to curricula, 2) solutions to the problems concerning the education system and the curriculum and 3) history, basic characteristics, and analysis for the text of the current reform, and the linkages between curriculum reform and curriculum development.
