This volume of materials presents models of intercultural practice for organizational and staff development in youth and adult education. By means of this publication the editors are presenting to a wider specialist audience the outcomes of the European SOCRATES project 'Learning to live in a multicultural society - adult education and training network'. This volume of materials provides information from Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom about such matters as: preservation of cultural diversity and tolerance; policies towards minorities; initiatives and activities addressing the needs of ethnic minorities in general, political, cultural and vocational education, mathematics and science and language education, computer training, and environmental and health education; global learning in youth and adult education for the lasting development of Europe in one world; European citizenship and the Amsterdam Agreement; European cooperation in asylum and immigration policy.... This publication is intended to provide stimuli and suggestions for intercultural youth and adult education in Europe. It provides illustrations of practice drawn from the models of practice-oriented partner organizations in the above mentioned countries, provides support for organizational and staff development in educational institutions, offers guidance, and develops criteria of quality for the future viability of 'learning organizations'.
